Welcome to Tai Chi & Qi Gong with YMAA Clonmel Hello everone !

The Year 2010/11 has undoubtedly been our best year so far.  Lots of enthusiasm and regular practice from the Regulars and some more new faces this year.  You are all most welcome.

We start this season with a workshop on Saturday the 3rd September to which all are welcome.   FULL DETAILS ABOUT THE WORKSHOP ARE ON A SPECIAL PAGE ABOVE CALLED SEPTEMBER 2011.

Normal Classes take place every Monday evening from 8.00 pm to about 9.15pm, AND every Saturday morning from 8.00 am to about 9.15 am.  Regulars interested in carrying out further training are expected a little earlier,  at 7.30pm and 7.30am on those days.  (Details of this extra training are available on request).

THE VENUE :  St Peter & Pauls School Kickham Street Clonmel.

Clonmel YMAA is one of 60 schools worldwide which practices Classical Yang Style Taijiquan  (Tai Chi)  under Master Yang Wing Ming. The core of group of students have been practising together for several years now, and recently we were facilitated in the development of our community club by St Peter & Paul’s School in Clonmel to whom we express our very sincere appreciation.

In Spring 2004, Fred Binchy, who had previously studied Tai Chi with a few other teachers,  including Sensei John Aylward at his local Shotokan club looked for a source of more systemic teaching for Yang Style Tai Chi (& Qi Gong).

He was fortunate to meet Master Yang at one of his annual Irish seminars in Dublin in March 2004, and hase been training with YMAA ever since, with regular training in Dublin, Liverpool, Lisbon and recently in California, at the YMAA Retreat Centre.

Several other Clonmel based students now travel regularly to annual training camps in Dublin.

Brian McDonald has also extended his own training programme to Poland and Lisbon.

After some years if work we have received  a limited level of recognition as a club, which has allowed us to access more training and support for the Club in Clonmel.  We were very positively supported by YMAA in Dublin, Director Paul Moran, and Assistant – Director - teacher Damian Fox.   Damien frequently visits Clonmel to supervise our training and provide further teaching, for which we are very appreciative. In the spring of 2009, Paul and Damian made a proposal to YMAA Boston headquarters, to have Clonmel recognized, under the auspices and direction of Dublin, and with Damian Fox as our director.

We were accepted for provisional registration and you will now find details of our club in the YMAA Community at www.ymaa.com and at www.ymaa.ie .  In the past few years we have established solid connections and friendships with many Schools in the YMAA network, and we now hope to enjoy continuing support for teaching resources from this network in the early future.

In 2011, in addition to visits from Damian, our Director, We have had local workshops with Mr Martin Evans, Chester, and Mr Michael McCann, Liverpool.    We are very appreciative of the support we have enjoyed from YMAA Teachers which is both a humbling and an enjoyable training experience.
